How to solve the problem of poor sealing of ball valves?

Ball valves are widely used in industrial production and daily use due to their advantages of quick opening and closing, good sealing performance, etc. But sometimes ball valves may have poor sealing, how can this be solved?

The ball valve has poor sealing, which may be due to damaged sealing surfaces. Long term use or the presence of hard particles in the medium can wear down the sealing surface, leading to seal failure. If it is only a slight scratch, a grinding tool can be used to grind and repair the sealing surface. First, select a suitable particle size abrasive and evenly apply it to the sealing surface. Then, use a rotating grinding tool to grind in a certain direction and pressure until the sealing surface is smooth and flat, restoring the sealing performance. If the sealing surface is severely damaged, with cracks or deep scratches, it is necessary to replace the sealing components to ensure that the ball valve has good sealing performance again.

Loose valve seats can also cause poor sealing of ball valves. During frequent opening and closing of ball valves, the valve seat may loosen due to vibration, resulting in an increase in the sealing gap between the valve seat and the ball. At this point, the ball valve should be closed, the medium should be emptied, and then the ball valve should be disassembled to check the fixing of the valve seat. If the valve seat is threaded, the threads can be tightened appropriately; If the retaining ring is fixed, check if it is damaged. If it is damaged, replace the retaining ring with a new one and reinstall the valve seat to ensure a tight fit with the ball.

In addition, the sealing performance of ball valves is also related to installation quality. If the ball valve is not in the correct position during installation, or if the pipeline stress causes the ball valve to deform, it will affect the sealing. Before installation, carefully check whether the specifications and models of the ball valve meet the requirements to ensure a clean installation environment. During the installation process, it is necessary to follow the correct method and sequence of operation to avoid excessive force that may cause damage to the ball valve. After installation, conduct a sealing test. If poor sealing is found, adjust the installation position or address pipeline stress issues in a timely manner.

When the sealing of the ball valve is poor, by checking the sealing surface, valve seat, and installation quality, and taking corresponding solutions, the ball valve can restore its good sealing performance and ensure the normal operation of the system.
